Celebrating Bob: 30 Years of Dedication
For three remarkable decades, Bob has been a beloved part of the Saybrook Point Resort & Marina family, a familiar face whose warm smile and tireless dedication have become woven into the very fabric of our story.
A Journey That Began in 1995
Bob began his journey with us on May 24, 1995, back when we were still the Saybrook Point Inn, a charming boutique hotel on the Connecticut shoreline. Over the years, he has watched our property evolve and flourish into the luxurious resort we know and love today.
Known for his ever-present smile, kind greeting, and unmatched attention to detail, Bob has been an essential part of keeping Saybrook Point Resort & Marina sparkling clean and welcoming for every guest who walks through our doors. His positivity, pride in his work, and consistent excellence truly inspire us all.
The Spirit of Dedication
At 88 years young, Bob still arrives to work each day with the same enthusiasm and purpose that he had when he started. Always with a story to share, he brings warmth and positivity to everyone around him.
When asked about the secret to his upbeat spirit, Bob keeps it simple:
“I’m always appreciative, and I like to work hard.”
It’s a philosophy that perfectly embodies the saying: “How you do some things is how you do everything.”
A Life of Love and Service
Originally from Kentucky, Bob has called Connecticut home for 63 years, sharing that time with his adored wife, Joyce. He fondly recalls their very first date, picking her up in his freshly painted green ’57 Chevy and taking her to the movies.
Before joining Saybrook Point Resort, Bob served proudly in the U.S. Army’s 3rd Armored Division, spending 18 months in Germany during his four years of active duty. Always the entertainer, he often played his guitar and sang for his fellow soldiers, a glimpse of his lifelong passion for music that continues today. (If you listen closely, you might still hear him singing in the break room!)
A True Member of the Saybrook Family
When Bob came to the Saybrook Point Inn seeking a position with reliable benefits, the Tagliatela Family welcomed him. The role offered not only the stability he was seeking but also the sense of belonging that has kept him here all these years.
Bob speaks with deep gratitude about the late Mary and Lou Tagliatela, remembering their kindness and care. He also extends heartfelt thanks to Viola and Stephen Tagliatela for their continued generosity and to General Manager Chris Bird, whom he describes as someone who has treated him “extra well.”
Over the years, Bob has built lasting friendships with many colleagues, including Casey Parmelee and Jim Fields, who he describes as warm and kindhearted, and Nick D’Acri, whom he considers a personal inspiration for his knowledge and generosity.
Still Shining After 30 Years
Today, Bob remains a cornerstone of our Saybrook Point family, still hard at work, still smiling, and always ready with a friendly hello. His story is one of dedication, kindness, and pride, the true spirit of hospitality that defines Saybrook Point Resort & Marina.
To Bob, we say:
Thank you for more than 30 years of hard work, heart, and hospitality.
Your warmth and positivity continue to make Saybrook Point Resort a brighter place for all who visit and all who work beside you.
